Share dinner with your housemates.
Never use cash again.
What the heck is this thing?
SheetIt is a service that helps roommates split purchases. Any purchase can be split any different way by one or all roommates. This way SheetIt can be used for keeping track of paying a bill for the whole house or just buying one roommate dinner. At the end of the month, that month's "Sheet" is finalized and the final rents are calculated and an email is sent to the group.
What guarantees are there, what are the terms of service?
Although we hope to make it more, SheetIt is just a prototype project. We make no guarantees of any kind. Use at your own risk.
Is there a way to add items from my phone other than by using the website?
Yep. Your groups sheet can also be emailed from any device. Just use the email you registered with and send an email to:
If Joe wanted to charge Sam $5 for bananas he would email: "sam 5 bananas" we would know it was Joe who payed for it.
If Joe actually wanted to add to the sheet that Sam bought him bananas he could send: "!sam joe 5 bananas"
If the bananas were bought by Joe but they were splitting them he would send: "sam joe 5 bananas"
If the bananas were bought by Joe for the whole house he would send: "all 5 bananas"
What other tricks are there?
When entering amounts into the sheet you can do math in the form, just like Excel. Instead of busting out a calculator to add the tax to an item you can just enter "=20*1.0875" into the form and when you tab over the form will evaluate the math for you. Pretty snazzy.
I hate SheetIt, where do I complain? Actually, I love SheetIt! how do I tell you?

Does SheetIt support IE?
No.
SheetIt was launched in November of 2009 by friends Jason Prado and Ben Eidelson after a bit of hacking. We got tired of using Excel and Google Spreedsheets to keep track of roomate transactions.
